The 2mm Scale Association exists to promote and facilitate modelling at the scale of 2mm:1ft. The scale has a long history as the smallest practical finescale standard.

By joining the Association, members gain access to a wealth of knowledge and our exclusive component range designed to enable simple and accurate construction.

Find out how to get started in 2mm FineScale; with the products available from the 2mm Scale Association its easier than you might think.

Our component ranges include jigs and alignment tools which remove the guesswork and need for specialist measuring equipment from precision model making. We also produce booklets which explain the construction techniques which have been developed over the years.

To keep our members in touch we produce a bi-monthly magazine and newsletter. For those with access to the internet we offer an email list where members can chat about anything pertinent to 2mm model making.

This website contains information about the Association and 2mm standards, articles about model making, and photographs to inspire the model maker.

I have some photos of the baseboards made for Rothervale so far. Panic hasn't set in yet, I'm pleased to say - though it probably should have done by  ....

SNOWDON COLLIERY KENT (LAST REMAINS OF THE KENT COAL FIELD )This is a long overdue update; I had reached an impasse with track laying while awaiting Easitrac points mechanisms. What's The Point? Source: Adventures of an Armchair Modeller | 18 Jun 2009 | 2:30 pm BST
For my next trick, I decided to knock up some modern pointwork for Rothervale. I have also put a lot more thought into the track layout. The point is just over a foot long, with a crossing angle of 1 in 15.797. The turnout radius is just under 5 metres in 2mm scale. Nevertheless, the maximum permitte ....

Trains can now run on Mount Royal, as the trackwork is fully operational - apart from the turntable and a few other loose ends, that is! I can now concentrate some time and energy on the scenery - something I have really been looking forward to with great relish. Here is a recent photograph of the se ....

Rothervale Revisited Source: Adventures of an Armchair Modeller | 5 Jun 2009 | 8:01 am BST
With the recent announcement in the 2mm Newsletter shop notes that track bases for flat-bottomed rail are being commissioned, I decided to dust off my plans for Rothervale, my modern image layout. I temporarily stopped work on this layout towards the end of last year, when FB plastic track bases fi ....
