The Broadway
by Alan Lawrence
Set in the period between the two World Wars, the layout is meant to be a town somwhere in East Anglia. It is based on Iiford Broadway after the 1923 alterations, though with a fair bit of modeller's license.
The track is 7mm gauge (3ft 6inch prototype), and constructed from code 40 plain rail soldered to copper clad sleepers. This is bedded in plaster to form the road surface. The overhead is 0.010" diameter phosphor bronze wire, and is electrified.
The trams are scratchbuilt, using Tenshodo gears and motors from Mashima and Nigel Lawton.
The layout is 4ft by 2ft !
